About Our Owner
Kevin Stutz Owner &; CEO, Colorado Firebreak
With a degree in Fire Science and years of hands-on firefighting and field experience, Kevin Stutz combines technical expertise, environmental understanding, and innovative design to create smarter wildfire defense systems. Kevin began his career as a volunteer firefighter in Evergreen, Colorado, where he developed a firsthand understanding of fire behavior and the importance of proactive mitigation. In 2013, he partnered in the early creation of what would become Colorado Firebreak. Since acquiring full ownership, Kevin and his team have transformed the company into a comprehensive wildfire protection firm, designing and installing fully integrated systems that safeguard homes across Colorado and the Mountain West. Beyond his fire science background, Kevin has also owned and operated a landscape construction company since 2003, giving him extensive knowledge of plants, irrigation, and natural water behavior—including how vegetation and soil respond to drought, moisture, and fire conditions. This deep understanding of the environment allows Colorado Firebreak to provide not just fire suppression systems, but complete wildland mitigation solutions that blend seamlessly with the natural landscape. As the inventor and designer behind Colorado Firebreak’s advanced systems, Kevin has refined an all-in-one approach that integrates water supply, high-performance pumping systems, spray networks, UVIR sensors, and backup generator, battery, or solar power options, ensuring every system remains ready when it matters most. Colorado Firebreak is a proud family-owned and operated business, led by Kevin and his wife, Sara, a Colorado native with deep roots in the community. Together, they share a passion for protecting homes, families, and the land they love. Through his unique combination of fire science education, firefighting experience, and landscape expertise, Kevin continues to lead Colorado Firebreak with one clear mission: to help homeowners defend their properties—and their peace of mind—from the ever-growing threat of wildfire.
